Saeb Erekat, the secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), was hospitalized on Sunday after his COVID-19 conditions worsened, according to the PLO.
In a statement, the PLO said Erekat was rushed from his home in Jericho to Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem, where he would receive a special medical care.
The 65-year-old veteran negotiator tested positive for coronavirus on Oct. 8 and has since been receiving medical care at his home.
Erekat suffers from chronic diseases in his respiratory system, as a result of which he has undergone a lung transplant in the US in 2017.
